My Speech For The Election:
Ladies, you may know me as someone who jokes around a lot, someone who you might not take seriously when it comes to responsibilities. So why take me seriously and vote me into presidency?
I have been one of the most dedicated and active member since my freshman year. Not just for fun events such as partying, but events that matter and help the community. I go to most of the D3 events, I go to walks, stay up late for cancer, volunteer at places where Chris and Bernard work so hard to set up for. I try to be flexible with what I can do and where I go with the club. As a member I want to be productive, but as a President I can do more. I can create and be a part of the process of what our club can do.
If President, I will try to create less of a gap in the cliques we have made for ourselves and unite our members. As a president I want to create an environment where we all can work as one. I want to bring us together and hopefully help us grow. I want this club to be big, if not, bigger than the Intercollegiate Christian Club.
My goal as president is to set you, the members, more involved in important issues, not just partying. I want our present and future members to be more active. I think that is one of the major problems we have facing our club right now. As President, I want to hear your voices, what you guys want to see more of and I will make it happen. If you want more involvement with D3, let’s make it happen. I fell like the only time we take our time to learn in depth about our culture is when we go to FIND. I am here to keep our traditions alive as well. What we do as a club will grow. Important issues will and should be priority, we are a filipino club. I don’t want to just learn about our culture once every semester during our FIND sessions or Barrios. As a filipina I think we should take initiative to learn about our culture and teach other people about us and not just through them. I mean they teach us the same things most of the time. I am not trying to be bias. I am all for networking, meeting new people, creating new friendships, but I just want us, our club to be more independent. We can’t rely on them for what to do as a club all the time. We need to create our own vision for this club and I am here to help us see that through.
I want to be president because I want to see this club go on for generations to come. I don’t want it to stop in a couple of years from now. I want to see it 30, 40, 50 yrs into the future and see it be the most oldest, successful, diverse, large numbers of members, the mot knowledgeable of their culture club at CCNY or BIGGER
DAng, my speech was awesome, how could I have not won with this :p
